This week has been a bit different. We’ve had all this stuff about the ‘Firm’ coming out, the alliance that is. They’ve called the alliance the ‘Firm’. The four that aren’t in the Firm, which is Shannon, Lisa, Jarna and I, are known as the ‘Leftovers’. So I’ve been stuck in an alliance I haven’t been interested in.
Basically, we were told they were gunning for us but we decided that if we stay above the yellow line they can’t do anything to us. But then we were told in the last elimination by Hayley not to get too comfortable as the game is going to change! And it sure did.
This week there was a temptation and the two yellow girls, Caitlin and Daina won, which gave them the power to choose which team goes against five couples. And they chose to take it on, which means they must beat our weight loss percentage or one of them goes home. If they beat it, then they send one of us home.
It’s a bit harder now as the girls have a 2kg advantage, so that is a 0.8 percent advantage we’ve got to counteract now.
I’m feeling bemused about it, I’m not too stressed at all. To be honest, I think if we lose I’m not going home anyway, but I’ve tried to make sure I don’t relax this week with those feelings, I’ve still pushed myself.
The training sessions have been fun, I’ve enjoyed training with the Green Machine, Rick and Joe, instead of being stuck with good old Wayne. I’m sick of being beaten by a 43-year-old, so I thought I’d see how I went with some 20-year-olds!
I kind of went berserk at Shannan in the last chance training and almost stormed off. I then came back, did the training session and at the end of the training session Shannan and I gloved up and had a bit of a punch-up! That was interesting; I got a few good ones in there. I think I was pretty lucky that he wasn’t going to be hitting back! I was basically just getting some aggression out.
The supermarket challenge was fun. The judges didn’t really like our style of food at the end of it. Bourkey and I decided we were going to do something different. We got a nice rib-eye steak and mashed up some cauliflower to do a cauliflower mash. Shannon had this idea of wrapping up some carrots in spring onion and we were meaning to get zucchini to mash up and put between them, but silly me picked up a Lebanese cucumber instead of a zucchini, so we had to change our idea and just shaved the cucumber.
We made this sauce that had a bit of soy in it, some juices from the steak, mushrooms and onion that we cooked, pepper, water and a bit of lemon juice. The judges said the jus was a little strange but luckily enough, Hayley loved it. I don’t think Shannan and Michelle liked it that much, but Hayley liked it, so one out of three ain’t bad!
Back at home, the missus does most of the cooking, I got a bit slack, but here I pretty much cook all the time. Big Bourkey’s lucky; I do all the cooking for him. I actually really like cooking. I wouldn’t want to be a chef because I wouldn’t want to do the hours and be under the pressure those guys are, but home cooking’s good. When I get home, the girlfriend’s going to be very lucky because I’m going cook a bit more for her, so she might be a bit happy with that!
I found out this week that my younger sister gave birth to her first baby girl, Heidi Norma, so congratulations Melinda, I can’t wait to come home and see little Heidi.
