Familial swipes aside, Daina was the contestant who seemed to have the most nutritional know-how and the girls were victorious after Caitlin was the last person left holding up her water-loaded bucket. The sisters’ immunity assured, it was up to the other couples to battle their way through the weigh-in and elimination.
Having had a visit from his lovely family, Wayne gave away his phone calls - his prize for winning the 10km race – to three of his fellow contestants. Just when we thought that these contestants couldn’t be any more honest, straight-forward and well, nice, we finally found out there was more to them than meets the eye with the ‘Firm’ revelation.
To Phoebe's surprise, as the well of the rest of us, some of the contestants have been very busy maintaining an alliance, complete with secret meetings. With Wayne as the chairman, Rick, Joe, Caitlin, Daina, Dave, Phil, Teneale and Elise made up the Firm and Phoebe was told she was a member as well, since she was now Wayne’s partner.
As for the other contestants, whom Shannon has helpfully dubbed ‘The Leftovers’, Chris had a fiery week, culminating in a blue with Shannan. A boxing session with Shannan after last chance training proved to be the right medicine, with Chris letting his anger and frustration out.
There were a few shocks in store for the Firm at weigh-in, when the spots below the yellow line were filled by their alliance members. Faced with choosing between Teneale and Elise, and Phil and Dave, the Firm stuck to their rules and voted out the couple with the lowest weight loss percentage. Everyone will miss those lovely ladies in pink and their constant smiles – even when they were crying!
Last week’s impressive special guest list included Olympic sprinter Matt Shirvington and the formidable Anthony Mundine. Wayne finished his fantastic week by taking out Biggest Loser of the week again with a loss of 6.3kg. Wayne also had the wonderful news from Dr Swan in Masterclass that he has halved his risk of heart attack since being in the Biggest Loser.
Masterclass also gave us the treat of seeing Phil work on his (largely non-existent) cooking skills and discover the joys of bamboo steamers. Rick and Joe were proud as punch to have won the Masterclass challenge again by creating a delicious omelette alternative to an unhealthy big breakfast.
