Well, how time flies! The contestants are already at that stage in the competition where they forego their original coloured team t-shirts they were assigned when they first entered Camp Biggest Loser for the traditional black tees. This of course can only mean one thing – singles! No longer are the contestants playing as part of a team - it’s now every man/woman for themselves.
It was interesting to see how the news affected certain contestants so differently. Some were extremely excited for a change in the game, others seemed quite nervous, so it will be quite fascinating to see how they all handle things and if strategies will now come into play. The leaderboard was also displayed to the contestants with Lisa coming in behind three very strong male competitors in the game - for such a quiet, unassuming lady, we may just have a new threat on the horizon. Lisa’s partner, Jarna, who has come in at the bottom of the tally, is taking things in her stride and seems extremely determined to improve her current standing, which is inspiring to see.
Every week, we film the contestant’s challenges somewhere in suburban Sydney (thankfully I have a car with a NAV machine otherwise I wouldn’t be able to find anything at 4am in the morning), and this week we were at a BMX track at Terry Hills. It was already a scorcher at 8am when we started the mud challenge and two minutes in, Chris was already opting to start a fight - this ultimately worked against him and he was the first to go.
The girls attempted to oust the dominant and stronger males but to no avail. However, our little heroine Phoebe was the only girl left in the game with Rick and Phil. After a monumental four hours, Phil was the winner (with undies around his ankles...something to do with trying to take his shorts down but not his bike pants??) and now possesses immunity going into the next weigh-in.
It was the family visit the next day, which is becoming synonymous in my mind as an emotional day. I know some of you don’t like the tears but I cannot help it. I have tried different techniques to reduce the tears but they just come exploding out of my eyes. I think I may be very emotional because from a very young age (10 years) I had to travel away from home to compete in swimming meets without my parents and I would cry and cry at the thought, so anything to do with ‘family’ or ‘leaving’ creates water works that I can’t control.....So any tips would be appreciated!
It was Joe's day (thanks to Phil’s generosity) and his lovely girlfriend Lucy visited...And yes, it was emotional because Joe speaks so lovingly of her non-stop, so for her to visit was great for everyone. Just when the contestants were assuming I would say my goodbyes, I had another surprise up my sleeve (which I love because usually the contestants have ‘inklings’ about things happening, but this was a huge surprise). Phil was given the gift of a visit from Canterbury Bulldogs legend - Hazem El Masri. Phil is Hazem’s biggest fan - borderline obsession - so to have him visit was amazing for all of us. What a truly inspirational sportsman!
A twist in the game soon followed with the cash out option. I was hoping no one would take it but while I was saying my introduction, Chris was looking nervously at Shannon and was fidgeting like he had ants in his pants, so it wasn’t a big shock that he took the $15000. We all understood his motives but the transformation he has gone through over the last couple of weeks has been amazing. Chris has caused quite a stir while being at Camp Biggest Loser but will certainly be missed by most, including me.
