Keeping Energised

Our body needs energy to get through the day and this energy (calories or kilojoules) comes from the food we eat.

It's important to eat balanced meals and healthy snacks throughout the day to help maintain energy levels.  Starving yourself is just false economy if you think it's going to help you cut calories.

In fact it ends up tricking your body into preserving the little energy it's working on which may cause your metabolism to slow down.

The Latest Healthy Living Tips!

Eat dinner at the table – research shows those who eat at the table eat more healthily than those who eat in front of the TV

Keep yourself honest by recording (writing down) what you eat. Successful losers self-monitor their food, their physical activity and their body weight

Eat breakfast –it bolsters your brain power as well as your will power at morning tea

Be a pain in the butt when you go to a restaurant! Make sure you order a meal that is cooked low fat but tasty – after all you are paying.

Drink water! Drink water! Drink water! As you get older you are less responsive to your thirst and you may interpret thirst as hunger. If you feel hungry – drink water first!

If you have a big party and the food is not going to fit with a healthy weight goal – have a big bowl of vegetable soup before you go out.

Be careful with alcohol – it dilutes your willpower. Make your first drink alcohol and kilojoule free – this is the one you usually drink the fastest.

Successful Losers follow a low fat diet long-term (they eat heaps of vegetables and fruit, use skim dairy products, use low fat cooking methods and use the leanest proteins (lean meat, skinless chicken & fish)

Eat with your left hand – it slows you down and gives your brain a chance to register fullness

Plan to be successful. Do a weekly menu, write a shopping list & don't buy what is not on the list. If it is not in the cupboard you can't eat it. Spend more money on quality foods at home – then you wont be tempted to eat junk.
