I was the one who everyone always refered to as 'the fat girl'. In primary school I was an overweight child who later became a morbidly obese teenager. Living in a South American household where everything either had pasta or meat in it wasn’t helped by having 2 just as overweight brothers to keep up with at the dinner table. I would hate taking photos and would constantly lie about my weight even going as far as cutting the tags off my clothes. I tried every ‘fad diet’ through high school and my weight went up and down all the time but it wasn’t until i was 18 that my mother took me to the local chemist to weigh myself and discovered my weight had reached 112kg. I HAD to do something about it, this time though i was doing it the hard way... diet and exercise! I started cooking my own calorie and portion controlled meals and joined the gym to build up my fitness. The weight just started melting off! I read up as much as i could on healthy eating and learnt as much as i could on low Gi foods, High protein meals & boosting your metabolism. The more weight i lost the more i wanted to exercise because it was well worth all the positive feedback i was getting! I lost 42kg and have managed to keep the weight off by controlling my calorie intake and exercising regularly. What i initially thought of as being the hard way though turned out to be the best and easiest way to lose weight because it taught me skills for life! Ive never looked back and these days im more than happy to have my photo taken... maybe sometimes even a little too happy!
