I used to be thin, up until I hit the age of 21 and went off to uni. The bad diet, alcohol and lack of exercise saw me go from a size 12 to size 16-18 in 2 years. I was obese for my height and age and it was getting me down. Last year a switch was flicked in my head. I made the decision that I wanted to lose weight and get back down to my healthy weight range. I used sports to propel me through and changed my eating habbits over time. It has taken me just over 12 months to lose the 19kgs and because of the way I did it, Iknow it will stay off. The only tip I can give to people is that you should committ to the journey no matter how many times you might fall of the wagon. Get back on and don't beat yourself up and believe that you can do it. If you have a positive determined mindset, nothing and no-one can stop you but yourself.
