The Biggest Loser captured the hearts of Australia in 2009. Over two million people tuned in to see Grandfather Bob Herdsman crowned the winner, narrowly beating his beautiful daughter-in-law Tiffany. Their success proved just how important competing as a couple was to reaching their goal weight.

Having the love and support of someone close to them throughout the competition took The Biggest Loser to a whole new level. In 2010 The Biggest Loser will once again feature couples from all walks of life.

One of Australia’s most loved and respected athletes, swimmer Hayley Lewis, will host this year’s The Biggest Loser. Hayley will be an incredible asset to the show as she shares her own weight battles with the contestants as well as her experience with training at such an intense level. Hayley will be friend and confidante, a shoulder to cry on, and someone to share the joy of success with.

At the very start of the series, Hayley will be issuing the contestants with the greatest physical challenge of their lives - a marathon. From day one at Camp Biggest Loser the contestants will begin training for this incredibly tough physical challenge that will take place at the conclusion of the series. It will be both daunting and tough but if they succeed their achievement will resonate with them for the rest of their lives.

Helping them reach their dream weight and fitness will be The Biggest Loser trainers Michelle Bridges and Shannan Ponton, who are now recognised as the two most successful fitness professionals in Australia. Through the program and their work in the community they have inspired so many to get up off their lounge and lead a healthier lifestyle. Their philosophies are focused on changing all aspects of life to ensure a person stays in a healthy weight range and has a fitness level that allows them to get the most out of life. They single-handedly focus and train the contestants with dramatic results.

This year on The Biggest Loser the contestants will always know what challenges lie ahead. Hayley, Michelle and Shannan will always be upfront with them on the twists and turns of the competition. Gone are the mind games of previous series, instead it will be a more collaborative, educational and supportive environment. Be assured it is still a competition with a $200,000 prize on offer so there will always be antics, alliances and dramatic eliminations.

Master Class - new in 2010
A new concept to be introduced in 2010 will be Friday night’s Biggest Loser Master Class. Master Class is all about preparing the contestants for life after Camp Biggest Loser. Driven by Hayley and the trainers, Master Class is an informative 90 minutes of food, exercise and health information. Our healthy chef, Janella Purcell, will cook up healthy and delicious meals and prove that low calorie dishes don’t have to be tasteless. And Dr Norman Swan, our resident doctor, will be addressing a range of health issues, especially weight related. In addition, we will feature special guests such as athletes, specialists and various experts across many areas relating to health and fitness.

Also, each week during Master Class a former Biggest Loser contestant from a previous series will return for a special visit to talk about life after the Biggest Loser. They will share their own experiences, talking about how they’ve maintained their weight loss and the daily battles they face. Each Master Class episode will culminate with a challenge that will test the contestant’s diet and exercise knowledge.
